How to create and manage task types in Vaiz


Task types help you categorize tasks and make them easier to identify and filter. Each board has its own set of task types, so you can organize work differently across projects.

Step 1. Open your board

Open the space, project, and board where you want to assign or manage task types.

Step 2. Assign an existing task type from the board

Hover over a task and click the “+” icon next to the existing task types.

Select Set type, then choose one or more existing task types from the list.

Step 3. Create a new task type while assigning it

If the type you need does not exist, select New type.

Enter a name for the new task type. On the Colors tab, choose a color.

Or switch to the Icons tab and choose an icon.

When you're done, click Add to create the task type and assign it to the task.

Step 4. Assign or create a task type from the task menu

You can also hover over a task, open the three-dot menu, select Set type, and then choose an existing task type or create a new one.

Step 5. Assign or create a task type from inside a task

Open the task and click the Types field. Select an existing task type or create a new one without leaving the task.

Step 6. Open task type settings

To manage all task types on a board, click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the board and select Board settings.

Scroll down to the Types section. Click the three-dot menu next to any task type to edit or delete it.

Note: Only users with the Manager or Owner role can create, edit, or delete task types.

When editing a task type, you can change its name, update its description, or hide the task type instead of deleting it.

After making your changes, click Save changes.

Note: Hidden task types cannot be assigned to new tasks, but they remain visible on tasks where they are already used and continue to work in search and filters.

Step 7. Create a task type from Board Settings

Scroll to the bottom of the Types list and click Create new type.

Enter a name for the new task type, then choose a color, an icon, or both. Click Add to create the task type.

Note: Task types are created per board, and you can create as many as you need.
