How to follow tasks and documents in Vaiz
Vaiz allows you to stay updated on specific tasks and documents by subscribing to them. Subscriptions ensure you receive notifications about changes, comments, or updates without needing to check manually. You can also add followers so your teammates stay in the loop too.
Step 1. Open a task or document
Navigate to the project and board to open a task, or to the documents section to open a document.

When you open the item, you’ll see its details panel (for tasks) or content view (for documents).
Step 2. Follow a task or document
In the task or document header, find the small flag (subscription) icon.
- Click “Follow” to subscribe yourself.
Use “Add followers” to subscribe to other team members, so they also get updates about this task or document.

Notes: When the flag is filled, you’re subscribed and will receive notifications.
Once you subscribe, the button changes to “Unfollow” and shows the number of followers. This helps everyone quickly see how many people are tracking this item.

Step 3. Add followers
By default, some users are automatically added as followers:
- the creator of a task or document,
- the assignee of a task,
- users mentioned or commented on that item.
You can also manually add or remove followers at any time.
Note: only members with access to the project or document can become followers — adding someone as a follower doesn’t override permissions or grant access they don’t already have.
Step 4. Default followers and permissions
When you (or others) follow an item, all followers receive notifications about:
- changes made to the document or task,
- new comments,
- updates from other team members.
You don’t need to be the assignee of a task to follow it — anyone can subscribe to stay informed.
Unsubscribing removes these updates, but you can re-subscribe at any time.
Step 5. Where notifications appear
All updates from your subscriptions are delivered through Vaiz notifications:
- Push notifications in the app,
- Email notifications, if enabled in your settings,
- in-app notification center, where you can review past updates.
You can customize which channels you prefer in your notification settings.

Conclusion
Subscriptions and followers make it easy to ensure the right people stay informed about key documents and tasks. With the ability to see the number of followers, you immediately know how many teammates are keeping track of the same item. Whether you’re following updates for yourself or adding others, this feature helps your team stay aligned and engaged without extra effort.
