How to use milestones in Vaiz
Milestones in Vaiz help teams organize work around larger goals or important deadlines. Instead of checking related tasks one by one, you can collect them under one milestone and track progress from a single place.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to create milestones and work with them inside your project.
Step 1. Open milestones
In the left sidebar, open the project and board where you want to work with milestones.

At the top of the board, click the Milestones tab. Here, you’ll see all milestones created for this board, together with their due dates and progress.

Step 2. Create a milestone
In the Milestones view, click “Add new Milestone”.

Enter the milestone name in the input field that appears. To save it, press Enter or click the –blue confirmation icon on the right.

The milestone will appear in the list and open automatically in the side panel, where you can continue setting it up.

Note: You can also create a milestone directly from a task. Open the task, find the Milestones field, then select “Create milestone”. Enter the milestone name and click “Add”.

Note 2: You can also convert an existing task into a milestone. Open the task or click the three-dot menu on the task card, then select “Convert to Milestone” and confirm the action. If the task already contains subtasks, they will stay attached to the new milestone after conversion.

Step 3. Add milestone details
Inside the milestone panel, you can configure the main milestone information.
Click the title to rename the milestone. Under the title, you can also add a short description to explain the goal or scope of the work.

Use the Dates field to set a due date or define a start and end date for the milestone.

Below the task section, use the Description area to add more context for the milestone.

Type “/” to open the block menu and insert formatted content.

Step 4. Add tasks to the milestone
Milestones can contain multiple related tasks.
Inside the milestone panel, use the task section to create new tasks connected to the milestone. Tasks added here automatically become part of the milestone progress.

You can open a task directly from the milestone, then fill in its fields, such as date, priority, assignee, type, and more.

These details will be shown next to the task in the milestone task list, so you can review the work without opening each task separately.

You can also open the task menu from the milestone task list to manage task settings. If the task should no longer belong to this milestone, select “Detach from milestone”.

The progress indicator updates based on the tasks inside the milestone, helping the team quickly see how much work is completed and how much is still open.

Step 5. Customize the milestone task view
Click “Customize View” in the task section to control which task fields are visible inside the milestone.
You can show or hide fields such as:
- Group
- Priority
- Dates
- Assign
- Type
- Other
- Area
- Source
- Related tasks

This helps teams adjust the milestone view depending on the workflow or the amount of detail they need.
Step 6. Use milestone actions
Open the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the milestone panel to access additional milestone actions.
From here, you can:
- follow or unfollow the milestone
- open it as a separate page
- view milestone history
- open the milestone in Gantt view
- copy a direct link
- archive the milestone
Note: To learn more, see Archive & restore

You can also use the top icons to favorite the milestone, follow it, copy its link, or download milestone data.

Step 7. Use comments and activities
At the bottom of the milestone panel, you’ll find the Comments and Activities tabs.
Use comments to communicate with your team directly inside the milestone. You can add files, emojis, links, quotes, formatted text, and more.

The Activities tab shows milestone events and updates, including changes to dates, tasks, status, and other milestone actions.
