How to use document history and comments in Vaiz

Document History in Vaiz helps you track changes and review previous versions of a document. Comments let you keep discussion close to the content, so teammates can share feedback without moving the conversation to another tool.

For the basics of creating and managing documents, see this guide on How to create and work with documents in Vaiz.

Step 1. Open document history

In the left sidebar, open the document you want to review.

Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select History.

Note: You can also open the same menu from the left sidebar by clicking the three-dot icon next to the document name, then selecting History.

Step 2. Review document versions

In the document history view, the Version history panel on the right shows saved versions of the document. Each version includes:

  • the date and time of the change
  • the person who made the update

Select any version to open its preview in the main area. Content added in the selected version is highlighted, so you can quickly see what changed.

Step 3. Use the Activities tab

If you want to see actions related to the document itself, open the Activities tab at the bottom of the page.

This tab shows document events and updates, such as:

  • document creation
  • renaming
  • moving the document to another location
  • following or unfollowing the document
  • and other document-related actions

Activities are useful when you need a quick overview of what happened to the document without opening the full version history.

Step 4. Add comments

In Vaiz, you can leave comments directly under a document. This is useful when you want to discuss changes or keep feedback connected to the document itself.

At the bottom of the document, open the Comments tab.

Use the comment field to write your message and send it when you are ready.

You can also:

  • attach files or images
  • format text inside comments
  • add links
  • use mentions

Comments stay attached to the document, so the discussion remains easy to find later.

Step 5. Manage comments

To manage a comment, hover over it. Additional actions will appear around the comment, including reply and reaction options, while the three-dot menu on the right opens more settings.
