How to use Slack integration in Vaiz
The Slack integration helps you keep work and communication in one place. You can receive Vaiz notifications in Slack, create tasks directly from Slack messages, share Vaiz links with rich previews, and track project activity without switching between tools.
Step 1. Connect Slack to Vaiz
Open the space menu in the top-left corner and select App Center.

Then select Slack from the list of available apps. To connect GitHub, see the GitHub integration guide; for Zapier, see the Zapier integration guide.

You'll see two connection options:
- Personal: receive Vaiz notifications in Slack, create tasks from Slack messages, and view rich previews when sharing Vaiz links.

- Space: automate workflows between Slack and Vaiz and track project events directly in Slack channels.

Note: In this guide, we'll use the Personal integration as an example.
After selecting the connection type, click "Connect".
Review the information in the confirmation window and click "Confirm".

Slack authorization will open in a new window. Select the Slack workspace you want to connect and choose a channel for the webhook. This channel is used by the Vaiz app to send messages to Slack. Click "Allow".

Click “Confirm” to complete the connection.

If the connection was successful, you'll see a Successfully Connected message. Click "Back to App" to return to Vaiz.

After the connection is established, the Vaiz bot will send you a welcome message in Slack.

You'll also see a notification about the new integration in the selected Slack channel.

Step 2. Manage Slack notifications
After connecting Slack, open the Slack integration page and click "Configure" next to Notifications.

You'll be taken to your notification settings. A new Slack column will appear alongside the existing Push and Email options.

Select which notifications should be delivered to Slack. For example, you can receive notifications about comments, mentions, tasks assigned to you, and other updates.

Note: Changes are saved automatically.
Step 3. Create tasks from Slack
Create a task from a message
Open the message you want to turn into a task.
Click the three-dot menu next to the message and select Connect to apps. If Vaiz is already listed, select it. If not, choose More message shortcuts.

In the shortcuts window, select Create Task from Message.

A task creation form will open. Choose space, project, board, and group.

When everything is ready, click "Create".

The task will be added to the selected location in Vaiz.

You can open the task and edit it further by adding details such as assignee, priority, dates, milestones, custom fields, and more.

Note: A View in Slack link is automatically added to the task description, making it easy to return to the original Slack conversation later.
You'll also receive a confirmation message from the Vaiz bot in Slack when the task is created.

Create a task using a Slack command
You can also create tasks without selecting an existing message.
Type /vaiz-task followed by the task title in any Slack channel. Press Enter.

The same task creation form will open, allowing you to choose the space, project, board, and group before creating the task.

Step 4. Share Vaiz links with rich previews
When you paste a Vaiz link into Slack, the integration automatically generates a preview card.
Instead of seeing only a URL, team members can immediately view key information about the linked item directly in Slack. This makes shared links easier to understand and reduces the need to open every link just to check what it contains.

Rich previews are available for supported Vaiz entities such as tasks, boards, and other workspace items.
Step 5. Set up Slack automation
Open the board where you want to create the automation and go to the Automation tab.
Create a new automation or open an existing one.

In the When section, choose the trigger that should start the automation. For example, select Group changed and choose the target group.

In the Then section, choose Send Message to Slack.

Fill in the required fields, including the Slack channel and message text. You can also insert task variables into the message.

Make sure the automation toggle is switched On.

When the automation runs, Vaiz will send the configured message to Slack.

Step 6. Manage connected accounts
Vaiz supports connecting multiple Slack accounts.
To add another account, open App Center → Slack and click "Connect another account". The connection process is the same as the initial setup described in this guide.
To remove an existing connection, open the account menu using the three-dot button and select "Disconnect".

In the confirmation window, click "Disconnect" again.

The Slack account will be disconnected from Vaiz. You can reconnect it at any time by repeating the connection process.
